However, thanks were due to all those who lent assistance to make the function a social success, especially the ladies’ committee. While having a credit balance of £3 19s 5d at the opening of the season, the Club had still to pay off the loan of £7 to the Old Boys’ Association. Owing to the increased expenditure in running the Club, it was found necessary to raise the subscriptions to £1 10s for seniors and £1 for juniors. The committee availed themselves of the opportunity of securing material for the coming season at cost price. To make the purchase of this material possible, they were again obliged to seek assistance from the Association, who generously advanced £lO, this advance to be repaid by December 15 th. The expenditure amounted to £33 13s sd, but this did not include £l2 5s ground fees due to the South Canterbury Cricket Association. The receipts totalled £42 11s sd, which included the £lO loaned by the Association, leaving £8 18s in hand. It was hoped that this season would show as marked an improvement both in play and general standing, as the last year did over the previous one.
