J. itolleston, issued the following statement to-day ; — Tho complaints made by Mr McArley, secretary to the Engine-Drivel's’ anti firemen and Cleaners’ Association, involve matters of ■which I have as yet no knowledge. I am ready, however, m conjunction with mcmbors of the Railway Board, to moot Mr McArley and the Executive of his Association at any time in order to discuss the whole position. lam assured by the chairman of tho Board that members have at all times been both anxious and willing to meet tho Association, with a view to settling grievances. I would further point out that the Prime Minister, in a letter written to Mr McArley on tho day of his departure, slated that the Board was prepared to re-open, tho question of penal rates, and invited further information in regard to the, payment of express drivers on a mileage basis.
