TE KARA CLUB. The annual, meeting of tl>o Te .Kara Tennis Club was held in the A.AI.C.A. rooms oil Tuesday evening, -Mi' J. Smither presiding over a fair attendance of members. Tiie annual report stated that the past season had proved a complete financial .success, and that the coining season would he commenced with a very satisfactory credit balance. Two (J. Grade teams hail been entered in the South Canterbury Association’s competitions, and although not successful in carrying oil the honours, the members proved well worthy of representing the club. The patron, Lion. I l '. J. Rolleston, officially opened the courts for the season, and handed the secretary a donation. Donations were also received from Messrs Scott, "Wallace, Ayres and AYhitehouse. The thanks of the club were due also to Messrs Ayres, McNnb, Smither, Bryant and Chittock for .motoring the teams to country matches. Club competitions were drawn out during the year, hut owing to the Association matches intervening, these had ' lapsed. The doubles tournament held on the courts on dural Fete day was quite successful, entries being received from Y.M.C.A.. AVni-ili. St. John's, and Timaru Clubs. Four of *Tc Kara members fought uni. the final, Air F. "Harper and Miss Collins winning from Mr J. Smither and Miss C. Harper Tile F.iornL Fete Committee donated trophies for I lie winners, who were to Iso congratulated on their success. The 2s Gd levy imposed by the S.C.L.T.A. proved too much for : most members, ami to surmount the difficulty Lhc coming season, it would lie advisable to raise the senior subscriptions by 2s Gd.
