BEQUESTS TO CITY.
AUCKLAND CITIZEN’S ESTATE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Juno 12. The late Mr David Goldie, whose long life of service to the community wa 3 brought to a close on Tuesday, has given the citizens of Auckland still further cause to honour Ins Memory by bequeathing to them a splendid area of native bush in the Waitakere Ranges, and making a number of handsome bequests to public institutions in the city. The section of native bush which Mr Goldie bequeathed to the City of Auckland, to be held as a public reserve, has an area of 475 acres, and is known, as “Goldie’s Bush.” It is situated about 23 miles from tho city, and about four miles from the Waita- . kero railway station. The area is covered with beautiful hush, which contains fine totara and . kauri trees. Tho following are additional bequests made by Mr Goldie. Blind Institute £IOOO. Auckland Museum £IOOO. Knritane Home £SOO. Salvation Army’s St. Mary’s Horn®, Otahnhu £509. Y.W.C.A. £SOO. ' Firing Angel Mission £250. Y.M.C.A. £250. Knox Home for Inciirahlcs £250. Young Citizens’ League £125. Boy Scout Organisation £125. Til addition there .s a bequest to the Alexandra Street Methodist, School of £5 annually for library books.
