MEETING OF CENTRE. A meeting of tho South Canterbury Bowling Centre was held on Tuesday evening. Present. —Messrs I. J. Bradlov (chairman), R. S. Nieol. A. Leslie, 'C. Ellis, R. Shillito, B. Manning and G. Hadlee. A hearty welcome was extended, to Mr Nicliol on his appointment to the Centre. . . The action of tho chairman and secretary in insuring tho Centro s Imps against firo was approved. • Mr Ellis--suggested, that m preference to handing cups in during tho oit season, it would be desirable ir V* would assist -in' some wav by contributing toward' burglary insurance. ■- Tho chairman said that he did not think it was faro to ask clubs holding trophies to contribute toward insurance. ~ Mr Shillito did n 9 t consider it -was fair to ask clubs to insure the Gentle s trophies, and moved that the Centro effect all necessary insurance. Tho motion was carried. . , Mr J. A. Dewar wrote advising that he had carried out tests of Mr Stunger’s bowls. Finding that they did not come up to his test bowl by about S inches, ho altered them to the best of his ability to draw to standard bowl. Mr Shillito .stated that the correct procedure on the part of Mr Stnnge would have been to send the bowls back to Mr Dewar immediately It was resolved that the Geraldmo Club be advised of Mr Dewar’s report, and that no further option could he taken, owing to the fact that All Stringer failed to lniorin the Centre ot his dissatisfaction previous to sending his bowls to Christchurch for furthci alteration. - , „ Mi- Leslie said that tho apparatus used for bowl-testing ,m South Ganteibury was not of tlio best, and lio considcrcd that the time had arrived when the Centre should consider the advisability of obtaining more suitable appliances. .., ~ , ~ Mr Shillito considered that the apparatus they had in Dunedin was tai .superior to that used in Timaru. It was resolved that a special meeting be hold at the West End Green on Saturday next to consider the question of either altoring the present chute on the bowl-testin o .1 - pai’atus, or purchasing a new one.

THE BRISTOL CUP, "After a lengthy discussion on tho running of Bristol Cup matches, it was resolved that it be a recommendation to the incoming ccntro that competition lor tho Bristol Cup bo divided into two sections, town and country, and that tho leading -team in each section play , off in the final on a date to bo arranged. , . ~ , A letter was received from the A\ cstEnd Club protesting against the vote of censure passed by tho Centro in connection with the chib’s forfeiture ot the Bristol Cup...
