The committee of the -Timaru Competitions Society met last evening. Mr G. j. AYailace (chairman;, Airs A. F. Bovs, Alessrs AV. H. Foden, J. O. Hawkins, A. F. Boys, D. Sinclair, L. G. Brute, R. S. Griffiths, AV. Gutter, J. Emslie, and A. Hay. Tho Hall Committee (per Air Catter) reported that the Grand Theatre and the Lyceum had been inspected with a view to holding the competitions there, but it had. been found that these buildings were unsuitable, and it would be necessary to book the AVesley Hall, as had been the case last year.
The committee had also penciled the Theatre Royal for the demonstration concerts.
Mr Eoden said that it would be advisable to consider at a. later date tho. possibilities of the Lyceum Theatre. He understood that the Boxing Association had discussed tho question, and were negotiating with a view to having that building made suitable to hold their bouts in. The report was approved.
A letter was received from the Timai'ii Pipers’ and Dancers’ Association, taking exception to part of the Society’s programme of dancing.
It was decided not to amend tbs programme.
The Canvassing Committee reported that £3O luid already boon collected towards the Society’s funds. It was decided to leave the • matter of posters in tho hands of Mr Cattov and the secretary.
