WEDDING.

GRAId AAI —RU SS ELL. A pretty wedding was -solemnised at Chalmers Clnin-h. 'timaru, on April 27, when Kate Ellen, third daughter ot Ah and Airs Robert Russell, Alaori i Hill, was inarr.ed to Gerald Aluir, j eldest son oi Air and Airs James Ora-| bum, Gore. The Rev. P. G kidstone j Hughes olficiaterl, and Air Axe! New-I ton presided at the organ. The church ■ wa-, -beautifully decorated with bronze i (•lirv.siinthemunis and autumn foliage. j 'I he bride, who entered the elm roll on I the arm of. her father, wore a- simple frock of cream embossed satin with georgette sleeves to the wrist, and a. beautiful pearl ornament at the low waist line. Her dainty tulle veil was worn over the face, and field in place with posies of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet, of pa/o pink : anil cream roses with maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Aiiss Lilian Russell i (sister of the bride), and Miss Alnvis Graham (sister of the bridegroom), were dressed alike in bronze coloured georgette over satin, and trimmed with autumn tinted flowers to tone, and hairbaiuls ol the same shaded (lowers. 'I heir bouquets were of bronze e!irv.-.ae.t!iemums and autumn foliage. Air'Reynold Rough, of Wellington, attended as best man. and Air T. McLean, ot Timaru, as groomsman. Alter the ceremony a reception was held at the Stafford Tea Rooms, which were beautifully decorated for the occasion. Air and All's Russell received their e-iic.-ts. the hostess, wearing a frock ot black crep ( . do chene. embroidered with gold' beads and li'aek and gold Kvt, and she carried a. boiuiuet of red roses and asparagus fern. Airs Graham, mother of Hie bridegroom, wore a black satin frock (rimmed with Oriental satin, and hat to match. H-r bouquet was of shaded chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. When Air and Airs Graham left bv I car for the Southern Lakes, the bride travelled in a tailored costume with . •mart henn;'.-Wloui* hat ami fur coat. S.C.J.C. RACES. ON 'THE LAAVN. The weather for both days if the. South Canterbury Jockey Club s autumn meeting left little to be desired, brilliant sunshine and an absence of wind being responsible lor the re-appearance of many a summer frock.. Alter so many .seasons of browns in all shades and tones, the warm rich colours favoured by fashion this year, struck a welcome ricte. Bottle green was very popular, also wine shades, boi.s do rose, cedarwood, and many charming .shades of fuchsia.
