ANNUAL MEETING. Tlio annual meeting of the Y.M.C.A. was ncKt last n.giu, Mr C. G. vogeier (vice-president; occupying the-chair. A large store lias also been provided above tno boys' room and this, together with vunous rooms on tho first noor of the building, has been leased to Messrs H. Goukl and O. The large hall, also on the first, floor, has been leased to Messrs Sargood Sou and Eweii. Tho balance sheet blioavs that the donations received to date in connection Avith the special appeal that Avas launched last year to meet tho expenses of these alterations etc., have amounted to over £3OOO. Several small promised amounts are still unpaid, but tneso are not suoavii oh the Balance sheet. Another £SOO is needed to reach the campaign objective and put tho Association upon a thoroughly workable footing, lhe carrying out of these alterations and additions very seriously disorganised the programme of activities for the greater part of the year. Noav, however, oolu departments are able to recommence activities m their new quarters. The football club again entered a lh.ru gram; team in tue South Canterbury Rugby Union competition and wmle not winning tueir grade competition mid an enjoyable season’s play. The Dunedui team were entertained by the local team and the visit lvas a pronounced success. The Tennis Club has again had a successful season. The- primary schoolboys groups are especially promising and a liuinbei oi intermediate members of the As-nc ation are acting as leaders, lhe groups meet each Aveek and an endeavour is made to provide a real foursquare programme, so that each boy will be encouraged and i ssistod to develop himself on his spiritual, physical, intellectual and social side. . . Three gentlemen occupying prominent positions in the Association movement visited Timaru during the year—Mr Holmes in May, Mr E. E. Robinson in July, and Mr McMillan m March. Eaclt of these gentlemen gave inspirational' talks -and met members of the Association in conference upon y M C V problems. Visits such as these mean much to the Association, fostering as they do, wider interests and broader viewpoints.
