I {From Our Own Correspondent), | CROQUET. TEMUKA v. ASHBURTON. Tiie Temnka Croquet Club journeyed to Ashburton ancl played a friendly match with the home club. The games were very enjoj'ablo, and the match ended in favour of the Ashburton team. Tiie, following were the scores (Ashburton names first) :

.W.E.A. , , i The secretary of the Temuka W.E.A. lias been informed by the Tutorial Class Committee that they hare decided to organise a study circle in Temuka this session, with its own leader instead of an ordinary tutor. Each week a box containing lecture notes, prints, gramophone records, and books will be sent to the leader, who will distribute the contents of the box on the class night. The box will be kept a week in Temuka, and then forwarded to the next town. The subject chosen as the first experiment is “The Art, Literature, and Music of the 19th Century.” Professor Shelley will be responsible for the material sent, and a tutor will come round occasionally to summarise, the lectures and discussions.

1 NOTES. At the Otago Motor Club’s hill climbing contest held at Bethune’s Gully, J. Airay (Temuka) was first in novice unlimited class. He covered a distance of three-quarters of a mile, 3 chains and 8 yards on a grade of 1 in 7i in lmin 39sec. ' Entries in connection with the Druids tug-of-war will dose with the secretary, Mr A. R. Beck, on Monday at 8 p.m. There are two classes, heavy and light weight, and the prize money amounts to £45. A dance will be held in the Catholic Club Room this evening. The Temuka Borough Council invite tenders for the supply of 300 cubic yards of rough beach sand. The Alexandrovna Lodge will hold a bazaar in the Drill Hall on 28th and 29th April, PERSONAL. Constable Ivearney arrived in Temuka yesterday, and will take up his new duties to-day.
