The Legations of the Protocol Powers have instructed their naval commanders at Tientsin to notify the Taka ports authorities that unless with in three days tho mines are removed from the ojuuincl, and interference with foreign shipping ceases, they reserve the right to take sterner action than oricinally proposed. There was some divernenbe of opinion between Legations. '!ho British opinion is that a- lenient policy is advisable, unless foreign lives are actually threaten%d. The Legations aro now considering what action should be taken in the event of non-compliance.
