SUDDEN DEATHS. ®r Telesranh— P-ssM Asoor.istloa. AUCKLAND, January 20. Two elderly women died suddenly yesterday. Helen Simpson (72), of Ponsonby, was found dead in her home at 6 o’clock ’u the evening. She was in her usual good health in the morning, but when her daughter returned she found her dead on the floor. Eliza Titchener (78), was found dead in bed. The family had been away camping for some days and it is supposed she died in her sleep. DROWNED WHILE FISHING. By Telecrnph—Ansnctation. AUCKLAND, January 20. A married man named J. W. Schofield was drowned in tho harbour while fishing from a dinghy moored to a launch. Tho sea was choppv, and the dinghy capsized. A man aboard tho launch jumped in to rescue Schofield, but became exhausted in the. rough water, being forced to regain the launch. Schofield grasoed a rope thrown from the launch, but then let go and sank. The body has not been recovered. Deceased was a meat canncr, employed by tho Auckland Meat Company.
