Mr Wilson’s Union has already spent £3OOO and is prepared to spend another £3OOO. Mr AVilfcon says he possesses ample evidence that 75 per cent, of the ■strikers left their ships through intimidation. Ho recognises that Australia Was hard hit by the strike, hut hopes she wiil remember that the British seamen stood by the Empire when it was in dire distress. Mr AVilson has also cabled to Mr AValsli describing the distress, and adding: “This is the result of the late seamen’s official strike, for which von mid others were directly responsible. The seamen’s Union is prepared to give £3OOO to the women and children if you cable a similar amount. These poor people cannot be left to starve over' Christmas. Cable your £3OOO to Mr Citrine, Secretary of the ’Trades Union Congress, who will see to its destribution. It is honor to spend the money on this than on litigation. If you fail you will have to meet tliese women and children on your arrival in this country.”
