LOCAL ATTRACTIONS. . December in Timaru brings an influx of holiday makers from other parts ot New Zealand, and there is no lack of diversion for the visitors. Visitors, -, s well as South Canterbury people, scorn greatly impressed this year by the excellent display made at 2-2 St aft old Street by England, Mcßae, Ltd. The display embraces hardware art, pottcij •m<l fancy goods suitable foi the Christmas gift buying. Of _ special interest is the fine range of Jacobean ware in vases, bowls, tobacco jars, and ornaments, while antique brass and copper goods also make a fine sliovuiig. Stainless cutlery—a specialty of the Progressive Hardware Store—is prominently exhibited, and most reasonably viced 5 at from 13s <kl per half dozen. Meccano for the boys pocket knives, cricket bats, tennis rackets, aluminium ware clocks, stainless carvers, electroplate and Doulton ware, are only a few of the many seasonable lines on view at the Progressive Hardware Store.
