DEADLOCK BETWEEN LEGISLATURES.

The Legislative Council refused to sanction the proposed increased taxation, and returned the Bill to the Assembly, with a suggestion that last year’s rates shou.d stfil obtain, and the increases be abandoned.

The Assembly .refused, and sent the Bill back to the Council. The latter,, hpwever, reaffirmed, the previous ..procedure and returned the measure to the Assembly. During the debate, the Minister of Forests said if the Council persisted in its attitude the Government would be unable to carry on. A dissolution is expected.
