Preparations for the school children’s monster sports gathering to be held at the North End Park on Saturday are now well in hand, and it is anticipated that a capital afternoon’s sport, for adults as well as juveniles, will be provided. In addition to the usual pro--gramme of events for the boys and girls numerous aggregate events for which points will be allotted will bo open for competition among the various schools, the championship being awarded to the school gaining the most points in these events. A tug-of-war competition and numerous other novelty events will also bo held. A special timetable for buses to the Park is being arranged by the Borough Council. A meeting of shopkeepers will be held at Mr G. Johnson’s at 9 a.m. to-day. In order to secure as far as possible the distribution of Christmas messages over a number of days, the public are requested to assist the Department by posting correspondence and printed matter and by sending telegraphic greetings as many days before Christmas Day as possible.
