There was fierce lighting on Tuesday morning at Damascus, between French forces and the Druses, who penetrated jthe city on Monday night. | rue Druses launched an attack oi. Damascus on Monday morning, which the French beat off. Many were killed on both sides-. The Druses returned in the evening and forced their way into the Shagur quarter, where a fierce battle lias been raging since. The French again bombarded Damascus with artillery, machine guns, and aeroplanes, greatly damaging Shagur and Saleve quarters.
