OBITUARY.
A PIONEISR PRINTER. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 11, One of the earliest .settlers of \Vel lington, Mr John Waters, died yesterday in his ninety-first- year. He saw stirring times during the early days of troubles with the Maoris in the Hutt Valley. He iva« a printer, and worked on “Tho Spectator” and other papers in the infant sett'ement, which lie saw grow from a Collection of mud lints, as lie used to mention when in reminiscent mood, to the important City of to-day Mr Waters was one time part pro prietor of the “Argus,”'an early daily publication, and also worked on the “Evening Post,” and “Independent.” WILLIAM BEETHAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. MASTERTON, December 1-1. Tlie death occurred at Mastcrton this morning of Mr William Jleetham, a pioneer settler, aged 8(> years.
