A PIONEISR PRINTER. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 11, One of the earliest .settlers of \Vel lington, Mr John Waters, died yesterday in his ninety-first- year. He saw stirring times during the early days of troubles with the Maoris in the Hutt Valley. He iva« a printer, and worked on “Tho Spectator” and other papers in the infant sett'ement, which lie saw grow from a Collection of mud lints, as lie used to mention when in reminiscent mood, to the important City of to-day Mr Waters was one time part pro prietor of the “Argus,”'an early daily publication, and also worked on the “Evening Post,” and “Independent.” WILLIAM BEETHAM.
