FAIRLIE.

(From Our Own Correspondent). A. AND P. SOCIETY. A special meeting of the Committee of tlie iViaekeiizie A. and F. Society was held to consider the annual report and balance sheet. Mr T. F. Bussell (President) occupied the cnair, and there was a good attendance. Several apologies for absence on account of bad weather were received and accepted. The balance sheet showed a credit of Jj'lSi, with a number of subscriptions still to coiiio in. Tho fact that no show was held made the statement a short one. , Tho president remarkei. that current expenses had to be met, and it was most important that the incomo should not be allowed to drop. Tho following report from the committco to the members was read:— We regret that on account of the epidemic of infantile restrictions imposed by the Health Department, it was deemed advisable to abandon -tin show, rather than risk the possibility of bringing tho dreaded disease into our midst. It was only after careful consideration that the Committee took this stop, knowing how greatly disappointed a largo number of exhibitors and the public generally would be. As regards the balance sheet, although no show was held, there was a certain amount of expenses, which had to bo inet. Fortunately we did not spend anything but what was actually necessary under the circumstances, as will bo seen by perusing the statement oi

accounts. The committee extends its best thanks to tlioso members who sent in their subscriptions early, making it easier for the Society to meet its liabilities, and would ho pleased if tlioso members who have not already paid, would do so, as tho Society is in need of every possible help in the future. Tho Committee trust that next Easter the show will again become a fact, and urges members, and others interested to redouble their efforts, and make the next annual exhibition a record one in every respect. The report and balance sheet were unanimously adopted. Tho date of tho annual meeting was fixed for Monday, 29th June. FAIRLIE WEATHER., Typical Fairlie weather is now being experienced. Severo frosts occur almost nightly, making it imperative on householders to cover drain pipes and taps each evening. Tho days are calm and sunny, and once the morning frost disappears they are most enjoyablo. Ploughing is at a standstill whore back facings have to he negotiated, and teams are at a loose end for the most part, just at present. However a good many odd jobs aro being carried out, having been deferred for a spell of weather such as now obtains. Stock is doing well, there being plenty of rough feed in tho paddocks.

WORKS OF ART. ■You can always tell a Kinder’s enlargement—it is so cleanly and artistically finished; all the main points, the proper light, and the smallest details are brought out. A photographic enlargement made at Kinder’s is a work of art.

From snaps, worn and faded photos, or from negatives, it is possiblo to have a really life-like, well-finished artistic enlargement of any size. . ’Tho cost at Ivinders Pharmacy is amazingly reasonable —very much loss than yon would expect to pay for such high-class art work. If you aro thinking of enlargements, go and have a talk with Mr. Kinder.
