GIANT OCTOPUS.
CAUGHT IN WELLINGTON BATHS. By Tolearraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 18. A monster octopus, measuring 17 to 18 feet, from tentaclo tip to tentacle tip, was caught in the 'To Aro Public Baths, Wellington, yesterday. A mail was on tho point of diving into tho water, when he noticed something squirming along at tho bottom of the baths. Ho managed to retain his footing on the diving platform, and on realising what the creature was, ho went for tho caretaker, and between them they dragged tho bruto out, with a 15-foot fork and boathook. No one who saw it could recall having seen such a largo octopus before. If tho bruto did not get through _ tho iron guards (of which the mesh is not more than two inches, and the bars no wider), it must have climbed up over tho wail of tho baths.
