TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF TIMARU. I ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— (D ! ' I am a Candidate and have the honour of, being nominated for one of the seats on the South Canter- | bury Power Board. .Such being the f position, I may say that, my views jin ~connection with the supply of i electric power for South Canterburv and Timaru requirements are the , same as when I introduced this subject mVier some years ago, chat South Canterbury be declared an electric power district, and the development of Tekapoi Therefore, as I have explained my views in connection with the above from several platforms throughout South Canterbury and Timaru, and to the Minister of Public Works, and through the Press, then I submit, Ladies ancl Gentlemen, there is no need for further explanation from me on this important matter at the present lime. '-■••• (2) If you do me the honour by returning me as one of your representatives on the South Canterbury Power Board, I will in return do all in my power in'conjunction with the other members of the Board, to obtain the needed supply of electric power .for South Canterbury’s and | Timaru’s requirements and also have the possibilities of Tekapo investigated as soon as possible, and the whole position as to costs of power station, equipment, transmission ; lines and reticulation placed before the ratepayers of South Canterbury and Timaru without further delay for their approval or otherwise. • , '.-Yours-'-faith fully, W. ANGLAND. ; POAVER BOARD ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OF TIMARU. T AGAIN HAVE THE HONOUR to contest 'a- seat for the Power Board to,;which you elected me at Rs . formation some two and a-half • years ago: * | At that dime my belief was that a sound policy lor an electricity supply for,, the power. area of South Canterbury could only, be based on a hydro])ower .statioh under: our own control and situated in our own district: . I am still of the same opinion. As a manufacturer, I am concerned with the question of an abundant and reliable supply of cheap power. ; At .the present time the progressive ; industries .of Timaru are at great disi advantage owuig: to the overloading j of the Oqlei'idge power station' fore- i ! ing .factory owners here to instal their own power plants at considerable I expense: me cost oi scrapping theser j plants when si satisfactory supply is assured, entails an extra burden of capital cost to the Timaru industrial-' - iSt. 1 If.elected I wiHsupport any movement having for its object the installation of a hydroelectric power ; station in South . Canterbury, and ultimately the complete electrification of the whole power area. Your 3 faithfully, \ J. R. BRUCE. ' POWER BOARD ELECTIONS.
