The South African amateur athlott, Arthur Newton, aged 41 years, to-day ran from London to Brighton, a little over 52 miles, in ohrs 53mins 43secs, breaking all amateur and professional records, including his own of 6hrs llmins 4 2-ssees made on November 3, 1924. Following rain during the run, the roads to-day were very heavy and lie beat the GO miles’ world’s record for road or track—olirs 38mins 42secs, and beating Ids own record of 51ns 53mins ssecs, made over Soutli African roads in July, 1923. -
