THE CHINESE TOUR. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 30. At a meeting- of the Now Zealand Foofb'ali Association Council to-night the secretary reported that _ho Bod cabled an offer to share profits fiftyfifty after paying expenses for a visit of tho .Canadian team; three games to be played, at Wellington, Hamilton, and Auckland. The Commonwealth As, sociation replied asking 55 per cent, of the gross gates. 'The expenses would be £1030,-. and bo replied declining the olferm-The, secretary's action was approved. . . Canterbury protested against tbs fourth' Chinese, test, being played at Christchurch, on the grounds that tno interest, would have waned. The secretary had replied that possibly a fifth test would be necessary. It was agreed that the Chinese games should be played on English Park, but a hope was expressed that increased accommodation would be ready.

Communications were received froth Otago, Wanganui, and- Rotorua stating that Rugby grounds had been secured on reasonable terms for the games with the Chinese team. It was reported that the’Auckland Rugby Union had written asking tl;o Wellington Rugby Union to send, o strong team to Auckland as a counterattraction to the Chinese game. Reference was made to the New South Wales Varsity games clashing with .Chinese games at Christchurch and Dunedin, and delegates were appointed to interview the New Zealand Rugby Union to see if dates can be rearranged.,

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The weekly meeting of the Management Committee was held, at Mr Burn’s residence on Monday evening. Present. —Mr Cooper (chairman), Messrs Angus, Sherry, D. Beel, Begbiej Watson, Drummond, and the. secretary, Mr Burn. Correspondence was received from the New Zealand Football Association re the,tour of the Chinese students. The team will arrive in Timaru on 26tb August and depart on the 28th. This .will be the first match played in tho South Island by the Chinese team: The question of engaging a ground for tho match was discussed, and the matter was held over for further consideration. J The charges for admission will be as follows: Males, 2s; ladies and boys. Is: stands Is extra. It was unanimously agreed to ask Mr Robinson, of Waimate, to referee the match, and Mr Bowles and Mr Huntei to be linesmen. Accounts, to the amount of £l4 15s were passed for payment. A motion to the effect that the llovers-Thistle match, which should have been played on Saturday last, should be playe'd on July 12 th, was carried'. , Mr Bowles was appointed referee for the. Ranprers-Thistle match, on Satur day at Russell Square, the game ic commence at 2.45 p.m. Mr Sherry and Mr Simmonds were appointed "linesmen. Mr Begbie was appointed referee foi the junior match at Anzac Square, Thistle »v. Rovers, the game to commence at 2.30. The next meeting of the committeo will be-held at Mr Burn’s residence, High Street, when an attendance of members is requested, in view of important business in connection with the tour of the Chines© students. The committee dealing with the instruction of school boys reported that a good attendance was present on Friday afternoon,, and that further instruction in. the code would be given to all schoolboys noxt Friday afternoon at Russell Square and Anzac Square. It was reported that Association football is being played at Seadown and Washdyke schools, and that a curtainlaiser, Town v. Country, will probablv be played on the date of the Chinese match.
