MONTHLY MEETING,
- The monthly meeting of. the W.C.T.U. was held in the Sailors R< Mrs Nome was congratulated on being appointed by convention to the position of Dominion Superintendent for work among seamen. . Mrs King reported on having visited the hospital, and she and Mrs Cunningham agreed to visit next month. Mrs Irvirie reported that, a large number of men from the “Athen-.c ' attended the tea and service on Sunday, and that members of the ‘ Y. branch provided the programme icr Monday’s social. . , ri It was decided to have a social afternoon at the Old Peoples’ Home on Thursday, July 3; ladies to bring baskets. | Mr Woodward reported 93 visitors (paying about 186 visits', from four overseas boats. Votes of thanks were passed to las Timaru Gas Company for coke; to Mrs Jenkins for goods; and to a friend for sausages and lamb for Sunday s tea. "
