HOCKEY.
SATURDAY’S GAMES. In view of the approaching representative matches with Otago at Dunedin, on July 12th, the South Canterbury Hockey Association set aside last Saturday for trial games in botli ladies’ and men’s sections. In both matches fast play was the order of the'day, although combination was not very much in evidence. At the conclusion of the games, the selectors announced the following teams for the southern trip:
LADIES. Goal, u. Reid (Stafford); right full back, M. Q-uirke (Orari); left full back, N. Hickey (Marist) ; left full L. O’Brien (Timaru); centre half, R. Turley (Orari) ; left half, R. Aker (Orari); right wing, M. Evans (Stafford); centre forward, M. Kennedy (Marist); left wing, R. Austin (Orari); inside right, G. Lee (Stafford) ; inside left, E. Blissett (Orari). Emergencies—Back, R. Edwards , (Marist); half, Airs O’Connor (Alarist); forward, E. Turley (Orari). | MEN. ' D. Turner (Geraldine), H. Goring (C.F.C.A.), C. Rawstorn (C.F.C.A.), J. AlaiUand (Geraldine), A. Goodman (Cambridge), V. Prouting (Geraldine), C. Voss (Geraldine), A. Stead (Cambridge), A. Sharp (Geraldine), A. Bryant (Geraldine), W. Stead (Cambridge), L. Davis (Cambridge), A. Stonyer (C.F.C.A.), E. Dean (Geraldine). Any of the above players who are unable to travel, must notify the seerectary immediately.
