COLERIDGE AGAIN.
ANOTHER BREAKDOWN.
The supply of current from Lake Coleridge again failed just after midnight, and trom this or other causes no light oi* power was available trie “Herald” Odice or the General Post Office until after 1.45 a.m. The into* ruption occurred about 12.3 a.m., and after darkness had reigned for abouu half an hour the borough power-house was communicated with, a reply being received that the stand-by plant could not be brought into operation until the Coleridge authorities gave permission for this to be effected. Later another inquiry elicited the information that the Borough plant would be broughu on shortly, and just before 1 a.m. some of the street lamps were observed to be alight, but no supply reached this office. Repeated attempts to get into touch with the power house failed, the operator at the Telephone Exchange being unable to obtain an answer. Just after 1.30 a messenget was despatched to the generating station, and was informed that the plant had been working since 12.45. By some coincidence the current was restored a minute or two after his arrival at the station. The breakdovv n caused the maximum of inconvenience, the entire staff of the paper being rendered idle for exactly an hour and three-quarters. . .
