TIMARU ASSOCIATION. ; The seventh annual meeting of dele- 1 gates was held on Saturday evening, when Mr F. Lewis presided over a iaii attendance of members. The following report and balan-.e sheet was unanimously adopted: The past year has been quite a success. The “Herald” Shield competition, again proved very interesting, -- teams taking part, 'Umaru B. team being holders of the Shield foi .4m Tear. Mr Bradshaw, of the same club, won the individual medal. A South Island championship meeting was held as usual, and this again win a successful competition. Me wo congratulated by visiting teams on the arrangements. This was veiy gra - tying to the officials, who by their untirimr efforts made the meeting a success. 0 In this competition 20 A grade and 14 B. grade teams took part, w-d-i 101 entrants for the individual I»t the \ -grade teams match Christchuicb and* Timaru tied for first gplace, and divided the prize money, Hinds mi,in winning the B. grade. In the A. grade individual and aggregate the winnei was Mr D. Clements. I) or the B. grade individual three tied for first place. Three also tied for the B. grade a.ggiegate. As the B. grade competitions do not give the fairest of sport i think the Association should considei well before they include • a B. grade competition on their programme nil, vear, should they decide to run a championship. The Association is in •) o-ood position financially, ilio receipts we°e £7O 7s lid, and the expenditure £6l Os sd, leaving a credit balance ol £9 5s 6d Our best thanks are due to Captain McHugh and the Defence Department for allowing us the uso of their hall for the championship meeting I also wish to thank the members for their loyalty, help, anil advice, which have enabled us to go Through the past year without .anvthing' to mar the pleasure of oui sport. . The election of officers resulted as follows —Patrons, Messrs F. J. Rolloston M.P., and E. G. Kerr; president, F. Lewis; vice-presidents,. T. Thompson and J. Bennett; auditor, A\. .\\ - Wade; secretary, A. Thoreau.; assistant secretary. P. Foden. A good deal of consideration was „iven to the conditions of the “Herald” Shield competition, and the only recommendation adopted was that . any member of an affiliated club not in a team could enter for the individual medal. Entries for the Shield close on Fri i dav, 27th inst. I The meeting agreed that the championship competition should bo liekl | not later than the second week in August, and that there should bo one I grade only. 1
