FAIRLIE.

A. AND P. SOCIETY A meeting of the committee of the Mackenzie a: and P. Association was held on Wednesday. evening at •‘Strathconan,’’ the residence or the president Mr R. A. Grant). ; Thero was practically a full attendance of members and the president occupied the chair. He welcomed members and stated that he bad called them together to discuss matters in connection with the forthcoming annual meeting, and to go. into any suggestions that might be made for the welfare of tho Society. He regretted that the annual meeting could not take-place-on the date arranged, 24th June, but it could bo held a week later, July Ist. Members agreed to alter the date of the annual meeting to Ist July, al 2.30 p.m., in the Fan-lie Public Hall. The treasurer then went through the balance sheet, and gave details oi some of the principal items. A sub stantial increase in the credit balance resulted from the late show, but many thought that it should have been greater. Several items of expenditure seemed too larger and it was agreed in future that a very careful watch should be kept over these. In the course of a lengthy discussion it was pointed out by Mr W. A. Robertson that the membership subscription (if 10s per year, was far too small. No other Society of the kind to his knowledge had so low an annual fee. Tho privileges which the membership ticket carried with it were worth in some instances more than the amount paid. Mr W. A. Robertson gave notice to move at the annual meeting that tho annual subscription for members bo increased to £l.

The president’s suggestion that small district sub-committees be set up to foster interest in outlying districts was further considered, and it was de oided to support a notice of motion to that effect at the annual meeting. The president thought that one mem her of the central committee shouid act on each sub-commitice.

A lengthy discussion took place on the question of the secretary's temno of office. It was finally agreed that the rules in connection with this and other matters be revised as soon ts possible, and that they he printed. A unanimous appeal was made to the retiring president, Mr R. A. Gran':, to allow himself to be nominated for a second term of office. The vicepresident (Mr T. E. Bussell), acted as chief spokesman, and he was seconded by several others. Mr Grant thanked members for the fluttering request. He had done his best for the show during hi.s term, but lie had been backed up by a strong committee of cnihusiasts\ He could not see his wav clear at the present time to accept nomination for a second term, hut would not cease to work for the show. Members expressed their regret at Mi Grant's reply, but hoped that other counsels would yet prevail before the annual meeting. Members were entertained at sun per by the .president, and the good things provided were, much appreciated. Mr A. Dorman, on behalf of the committee presented! Mr Grant wiili an enlarged photograph of the showground taken on show day, Mr Gram:, who was completely taken by .surpri>e, said lie would always prize the picture as a momento of a successful show and a. very pleasant year of office.
