TEKAPO SCHEME.
To the Editor of. the ••Timaru Herald.’ Sir. -There is something significant behind Mr Climic’s special eftoit to tope in South Canterbury with church. Mr Climie lost no time in placing •> serious ease •..betore ..i Christchurch City Council, hence thy' special sop resolution for Jimaru m the purpose of putting us ott uio scent. The public of Soutn Canteibnrv (excepting those who are contioiled ‘in their action from Christchurch, and those who have to keep their ]oj-> secure and have to play the rail sktiiinr are determined to detemp Tekupo in spite of all political wive pulling. We arc not looking ioi trouble, nor do we wish to be antagonistic to Christchurch, but we desire to make- it plain to Mr Climie and t is executive that his few. supporters :n Timaru .do : not count iu tho matter. He surely realises by this time that his olforts- have been fruitless, further, he must understand that we are fully alive to the objects of Christchurch and Mr Climie’s special effort. . Our Power Board have been hoodwinked enough and now realise their position, and T firmly believe they will hereafter act in accordance witli the desires ot the peoplo they represent. Finally, let it he understood that Timaru contains sufUciont bruins to control its own alFairs. )Ve may liavo been apathetic in the past, but now we have turned. We have taken our gruelling, and from this we will prove ourselves equally alive, with the Canterbury Progress League, and its colleagues in the Christchurch City Council. While we admire the energy of the Canterbury League., when circumstances warrant we eaii rise to the occasion without outside assistance.—l am, etc.. NON-CHRISTCHURCH.
