Mr Cochran, commenting on the Exhibition authorities’ decision to prohibit steer-roping contests at the Stadium, declared that they were not entitled to stop private competitions. He alone had the right to decide whether it should continue or not. Under the terms of the competition every cowboy would be entitled to claim the first prize if the competition were stopped in this way.
