THEFT WHILE DRUNK.
MAGISTRATE’S SCATHING REMARKS. By Telegraph—-Press Associatibn. DUNEDIN, June 20. A man- named John Healey, was charged on Teiriand at the Police Court to-day, wi'tll theft 'oil Jinie ’ 6 last, of • a motor car tyre and rim, valued at £6, the property of George Alfred Lamb. He was further charged with theft on the following day of a motor car tyre, rim aiid cover, of a total value of £5, the property of Fairbairh and ''Henderson,- Ltd. 'The Magistrate (Mr Bartholomew) said that' accused had stated that he was drunk at the time the thefts took place, and' that it was a matter of impulse; It was however a deliberate c-ase of sneak thieving, a man going round taking tyres off cars standing in tlio street. Accused would be sentenced to three months’; imprisonment on the first charge 1 , and at the cud of that period he "-would' be detained for reformative treatment for a period of twelve months.
