AUTOMOBILE ASSN.
Tho committee of the Waimate Automobile Association met on Avednesda» afternoon. Present. —Messrs Or. AManchester (m the chair) A. W. Bainett, AV. Bell, AV. F- Cheverton, 1. Dver, AV. Hayman, and R. Sinclan. Mr Sinclair reported that the work of* improving dangerous corner at Cousins’- and Yesberg’s had been cairied out satisfactorily. The Waimate Comity Council furwarded a reply to a letter of 28th April in reference to dangerous corners at the Waihao Downs railway cross ing at Yesberg’s corner, stating that the matter would receive immediate attention. , The Otago Motor Club wrote to the effect that thev had forwarded .-5 zinc plat ..s for the colour route scheme as ordered. —The secretary stated that the plates had been in his possession since May 4th but owing to the telegraph poles being renewed on the mam road between Paroora and AVaitaki. he had consulted with the president, and it was considered advisable to wait until the work of renewal was completed before putting the plates in position.—Action approved. The secretary ot the South Island Motor Union gave notice that the foliowing hotels are to be removed from the official list: —Provincial Hotel. Christchurch; Banks Hotel, Ophir; Fade Hotel, Bluff; Great Northern Hotel,- Waikari, Excelsior Hotel, Dunedin. The secretary of the South Island Motor Union wrote enclosing a copy of a letter from the Royal Automobile Club. London, stating that H.R.H., the Duke of Connaught would preside at a dinner given by tho club to renrosentatives of Overseas Automobile Clubs, affiliated to the R.A.C., and inquiring names and addresses of any members visiting London. —The secretary reported that he had forwarded ihe names and addresses of Messrs J. AV. Manchester and M. Mcßae.' Air Manchester, who had attended the annual general meeting of delegates of the South Island Union r.t Christchurch, reported on tho business transacted, and was accorded a vote of thanks for his report. A letter was read from the South Island Motor Union requesting the assistance of the Association in putting a petition signed by motorists asking ilia Highways Board to assist in ;I;e construction’ of a traffic bridge over the Rangitata river below the railway bridge.—Tt was decided to prepare a petition a nI secure as many signatures possible.
