PROTEST BY METHODIST CONFERENCE.

The Primitive Methodist Conference at Newcastle adopted a, resolution expressing grave concern at paid royalties’ increasing association with the turf, adding: ‘AVo regard horse racing as being largely responsible for tho widespread gambling which is' terribly menacing in its effect upon the nation’s young life, and some steps should be taken to focus the opinion of all free Churchmen, in order that their emphatic protests should reach the ears of the Ruling House.”
