GOLF.
TIMARU CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Tiniaru Golf Club was held on Wednesday night. The following new members were elected: —Messrs T. W. Lynch, C. S. Gordon, Dr. Ussher, S. E. Field, the Rev. H. K. Andrews Baxter, J. F. Harrison, and three schoolboy members, J. R. Mackey, J. G. Webster, and G. A. Ussher. It was decided to purchase a triplex mower for cutting the fairways. There was considerable discussion on the subject of stolen golf balls. It was stated that a considerable number
of branded golf halls were removed from the links by small boys and sold. The opinion was expressed that if would bo of great assistance to v the dub in checking the nuisance if players would refrain from purchasing. golf balls from any but authorised persons. Another point raised was the mattei of divots; and the committee decided to impress upon players the necessity of replacing all divots, so as to keep the course in good order. Air T. Scott was thanked for his presentation of a challenge cup foi competition amongst the schoolboy members. . It was decided to remind members that all subscriptions outstanding aftei June 1 30, would be subject to the in creased charge. It was also decided that a dub dauea should be held, in July or August. TIMARU LADIES’ CLUB.
The following players will represent the Timaru Club in a match against Waimate on Saturday—Mesdames Cox, O’Callaghan, Webber, Courtis, Misses Dudding, L. Hay, Torlesse and Ziesler. Those chosen to play against North End on Saturday are—Mesdames Innes Jones, King, Porritt, C. Young, Henderson, McMeekin. Misses Fussell (2), Wood, G. Thompson. Newman, Hartstonge, Trott, Virtue, Tizard (2). The third medal match will be played on Tuesday next. Anyone unable to play must ring Mrs Finch to-day.
