ESCAPE FROM BANDITS
PLIGHT OF MISSIONARIES IN , CHINA. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. (Received 9.20 p.m., June 17.) HONGKONG, June 16. One of the kidnapped missionaries, the Rev. Ray (an Ameriqan) escaped from the bandits during ah unguarded moment, while a heavy rainstorm swept the mountains, and after travelling all night reached Chiuping, to which a Chinese gunboat was despatched to assist the missionaries, and ‘ brought him to Wuchow. The Rev. E. H. Carne (Australian) is still captive, having refused to attempt to escape. The bandits now demand £3OOO for his release. . . : ,
