SATURDAY’S GAMES. The Cave Cup match, Rovers v. Rangers, at Russell Square, hud just started on Saturday, when Keen, the Rovers’ left winger, met with an accident, and by common consent of the players and members of the management committee, the match was postponed. The pitch was treacherous, owing to rain, and in an attempt to centre the ball, Keen fell, and sustained a serious injury to his left leg. The injured player was attended to by a member of the St. John’s Ambulance and by Dr Unwin, and was removed to tho hospital. The sympathy of all followers, and players of the Association code, are extended to the injured player, who is very popular among his fellow footballers. OAMARU v. TIMARU. Oamaru Rangers paid a visit to Timaru on Saturday and engaged in a friendly encounter with me Thistle Club. The game took place on Anzac Square, the pitch being very muddy. From the kick off, Oamaru pressed and the superior play of their front rank soon began to tell. McTavish, the centre-forward, narrowly missed with a long shot. From a throw-in, McTavish got possession, and beating the Thistle backs, beat Roundhill with a low ■ drive. Oamaru 1, Thistle 0. Thistle made a determined attack, but Neil, playing with fine judgment, drove Thistle back. Robertson dribbled down, and parted with the ball to McTavish, and from close in the centre-forward again found the net. Oamaru 2, Tnistle 0. From the centre, Coker, with good footwork, Jed an attack to Thistle’s end, but Durning drove the ball well down. After a combined rush on the part of the Thistle forwards had been repulsed by McFadden, MeTavish again got possession, and secured tho hat trick, giving Roundhill no chance to save. Oamaru 3, Thistle 0. The next goal came from Soper, who with a fine individual effort, found the net from inside the penalty area. Oamaru 4, Thistle 0. The half time whistle sounded and the teams resumed the game without a spell. From the outset, it could be clearly seen that the game was not going to be a one-sided affair, and several ugly rushes, in which Gunn was conspicuous, were staved off by Neil, and McFadden. Scott was defending in good style, and more than one attempt on the part of McTavish to break through on his own, was stopped by Scott. The local forwards were showing to better advantage, and the Oamaru custodian was called on to clear. A centre from Gunn went begging, but almost immediately afterwards, t)ie right winger centred, and Parsons made no mistake with a high shot, making the score, Oamaru- 4, Thistle 1. Thistle’s half backs opened up, and the centre forward was unlucky, a long shot just going over the bar. A centre from Elliott was taken advantage of, and C. Durning rattled the upright with a hot shot. The concluding stages of the game, were in Thistle’s favour, but the scores remained unchanged. Oamaru winning by three goals.

NOTES ON THE GAME. lsacl line weather been in vogue a fast game would have resulted, as Oamaru are a much improved side. The full back play of Neil, was good and Robertson gave a fine display at centre-half. The dashing tactics of McTavish, who scored three goals, were pretty to watch. The forwards of the visiting team, are a. better lot, than any of the local teams possess, and another visit of Oamaru Itangers will be looked forward to, by local enthusiasts. Thistle, who were without the services of McLelland, gavo a poor display in the first half, but brightened up considerably during the second spell. Parsons showed some of lus old time dash, but as on previous occasions he overran the ball. I 1 or none of the four goals could any blame be attached to Roundhill, who, though not faultless, gavo a good display. Had the local men played a sound defensive game in the first half, the score would have been different, and with a little luck, in tho second spell, would have had another goal to their credit. The visitors were entciturned to tea at the Royal Hotel. A junior match, Rovers v. Thistle, ended in a draw, a goal each being the result. During the first halt Beal, scored for the Thistles, and Lamborn equalised during the second hair.
