Nearly a quarter of a million persons profited by the weather)forecast of a brief fine spell and visited Wembley. On Saturday ninety thousand were present, including representatives of humanitarian societies opening an international congress. The spectators delightedly cheered the hair-raising exploits of the bronco riders and lassooers, but were angry at the demonstration occasioned by a steer in the roping contest. When the steer’s leg was broken thousands of people rose in their places and booed and continued their protests for the remainder of the performance. STEER-ROPING CONTEST. HELD WITHOUT AUDIENCE.
