Rii- John Luke. M.P.. chairman, reported at a meeting of the Wellington Winter Show • Committee last night, that Cabinet bad refused to grant a racing normit in connection with the show. Tho Attorney-General bad ruled that the proposed exchange of a bunt club permit for a racing permit was illegal. Tbe Wellington Racing Cluh had promised the committee a donation of £SOO. if a permit was granted, so that the committee would lose that sum.
