Air Oswald Dykes, chief clerk m the Teiuuka Rosl Office, lias been promoted to Port Chalmers. He leaves to take - up his netv duties in the course ot a few days. Air T. M. Wilford, AI.P., leader of die Opposition, will arrive m Waimate to-morrow, and will deliver a political address there that night. The injuries sustained by Air J. Anderson, who was injured through stumbling on the roof of Air L. Hunt s shop, on the night of the fare a* Temuka, and Tailing through the sky light, are not so severe as was at first feared. Although suffering from the fall and ugly cuts, Mr Anderson expects to be about again in a. few days. At the South Canterbury Hunt’s " doint-to-Point Steeplechase meeting on Saturday, as a mark of appreciation of his "ood services in the hunting field, the Huntsman (J. AI. Shaw), was presented bv the Ataster, with a purse ot 30 sovereigns, subscribed by the active members of the Hunt, 47 in number. All had given most willingly, Air Orbed said in making the presentation, the subscriptions at the Fairlie end of the district having been collected by Air W. L. Bourn. The subscribers regretted that the Huntsman had recently lost his trusty mount, which had been'staked in the hunting field, and they hoped that with the money subscribed he would be able to secure another one as good as the one which h® had lost.
