Roller, E. V\ • Jones, G. JJ. belbie, A. M asiier, and ino director, Air ,\Y. Fossey. ine chairman said that he wished to welcome Mr G. D. Selbie u representative of the Levels County Council. They were sorry to lose the services ol Mr R. J. Mclvcown on the Board, but lie I'clt sure that Mr Selbie would take as keen an interest in the all airs ol' tiie school as Mr MeKeown had done. . The director reported that during Lhe month,, ending June 12. The attendance had been remarkably good, very low' cases ol absence, ana these were all accounted lor by minor cases ■i sickness. .Work had gone on steadily with no interruptions, and the general conduct of pupils had been quite satisfactory. The term examinations would be held at the end of this month, when reports would be sent to .parents as usual. The radiator heating system had been in full opeu-atiou during the month, and was quite satisfactory in every way. The cost ol luel would work out at about 25 per cent, less than under the old system. They have now two football teams and ioui basket ball teams in training lor the winter games. On account of so many failures with the electric current, he had had all the gas fittings puL into thorough repair, so that work in the evening classes might not be again interrupted on this account. The nurses from the public hospital were examined for their certificates in invalid cookery by .Miss Finlayson, matron of the- hospital and .Mrs Wilson Potts, on Monday, June 2. The results were very satisfactory, reflecting credit on the instructor, .Mrs Fossey, one nurse obtaining 94 por cent, honouia and the remaining seven, obtaining first class passes. The attendance at the evening classes, was not nearly so good as the day classes, there being many students, who attended only when they had nothing else in the way of pleasure, to attend. The weather had not been too good, but if students expected to reap any real advantage, from attendance, then that attendance must be regular. One boy had'had his free place cancelled by the Department, for bad attendance, and lie expected that several others would bo treated similarly, when the haltyearly report was sent in. The Department regulations demanded at least -SO per coni, possible attendances to enable a student to retain a freo place. There had been no break in the work of the classes, and those who had been attending regularly, wero doing excellent work. An examination for plumbers’ certificates would be held at the end of the month. At the present time there were 44 evening and 1.1.1. day classes in jregulai meeting, and total oi about 4.3.) pupils making about 4000 weekly hours.
