PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Timaru Plunket Society was held in the Conncil Chamber on Tuesday afternoon. ■Present.—Mesdames J. P. Newman (in the chair), F. S. Cave G. S. Cray, G. R. M. Jones, C. A. Paterson R. B. Bell, James Hay, A. E. Pennefather, T. Thomson, J. C. Oddie, J. Meehan, G. Webster, W-. Fossey, and Nurses Dunlop and Rodgers. Apologies were received from Mesjlames. Holdgate,. Stinson, and Mason. Mrs Newman thanked the committee, for re-electing her as president, and welcomed the new members; and introduced Nurse Rodgers temporarily replacing Nurse Annetts. Nurse Dunlop reported that 34 new cases had been dealt with during the month of May. A total of 170 adults and 172 babies had visited the Society’s; rpoinsi The number of visits paid Ho homes during the period had aggregated 601. The gift of a parcel of clothes from Airs W. T. Ritchie was acknowledged. ? , Airs Paterson proposed and it was resolved that the following remit should be forwarded to the Central Council for consideration“ That in the incoming year ‘Hygeia’ should draw up a programme for feeding a family of young children, on an ordinary working man’s wages.” The branch’s share of tlie expenses of the Central Council was duly forwarded, and accounts amounting to £54 10s were passed for payment. It was agreed that a small table should be provided for the nurses’ room.

A resolution was passed that Nurse Annetts be thanked for her faithful and untiring services, and that a suitable record should he inserted in the minute book.

A letter was received from Miss Patrick intimating that Nurse Gillespie would be available to commence as a permanent nurse about October. A sum of £5 was voted to the president to secure material for Rose Day. POINT BRANCH.

The Pleasant Point Branch of the Plunket Society is making an appeal for funds. The district's contribution towards cost and upkeep of new car is £4O, and the expense of an extra nurse is from £l5O to £2OO, and although Air T. D. Burnett, ALP. subscribes generously there is still great need of funds to enable the work to be carried on.
