WAIMATE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

HUNTING. The followers of tho Waimato hounds experienced one of the best runs for many years on Thursday, when the meet took place at “Ohetnole,” Redolitfs. Unfortunately. Mr P. Manchester was thrown while taking a wire fence, and received slight concussion. He was conveyed to his homo in a car, and is making a speedy recovery. Hounds threw oh about 12.30 p.m., at tho cross roads below “Chetnole.” The first field was draw'll a blank, but in the second a hare was put up, which circled over some young feed for about two miles, when fresh hares crossed the trail, spoiling the scent and making it difficult to keep the pack together. Hounds were soon on to a fresh scent. Puss led the field for fully six miles, and, after making towards Glenavy, was lost in the riverbed. This was undoubtedly the longest run over any country for a number of years. Hounds were taken across the Glenavy-Redcliffs road into fresh pasture, and were soon in full cry. Puss took the field back in the direction of the starting point and made her escape. Several other hares were put up with similar results. As hounds and horses were tiring from the effects of the long run, a halt was called, and the field returned to the homestead where a delightful afternoon tea provided by Mr and Mrs E. B. Harrison, was partaken of. Those following were: —The Master (Miss C. McLachlan) on Self Defence, Huntsman Ferguson on Six Cylinder, Whip Vincent on Nouarrie, Mrs Middleton on Nora, Miss J.
