COAL STRIKES.
TRADE DWINDLING FROM AUSTRALIA.
By Press Association—Copyright, SYDNEY, June 12.
Mr McDonald, chairman of the Northern Coal Proprietors’ Association, states that in 1923 there were 190 separate strikes in the Maitland district, while to the end of May of this year there wore 205. He quoted figures to show that trade from Newcastle was gradually dwindling away, and said that exports to the West Coast of America had fallen from £‘1,500,000 in 1912 to £500,000.
