ELECTION OF PRESIDENT TO-DAY. V By Cable—Ft»ss AssociaJj on—-Copyright. PARIS, June 11. The Chamber and Senate will meet jointly at Versailles on Friday afternoon to elect a new President. The Senate, by 154 to 44 votes, resolved to adjourn and not enter into relations with the Ministry which, by its composition, is the negation ot Parliament. It refuses to enter into an unconstitutional debate to which it is invited, and has decided to adjourn all discussion until a Government con stituted in conformity with, the coun try’s sovereign will presents itself before it. M. Herriot will announce his Cabinet immediately the new President is elected. He then adjourns Parliament, after the briefest debate, to enable him to get into contact with the Allies. He hopes to go to London to see Mi Macdonald at the beginning of nest week.
M. Millerand proposes to resume * practice at the Bar. Like M. Poincare, he refuses to accept the unwritten law that the ex-President must sink into obscurity. It is expected be will bo returned to the Chamber in a few weeks, as Deputy for Meurathe, when he will become Leader of the Opposition in the event of M. Poincare becoming leader of the Senate.
