fne Canterbury Automobile Association forwarded a copy of a report in reference to road maintenance. Received.

An application for water suppiy and two building permits by F. Pollock were granted. Dr E. C. Hayes was granted a drainage permit. Application from Messrs Middleton and Tweedy, and Messrs Hamilton aiid Fitch, for sub-division of sections were approved. Tlie Inspector of Health wrote enclosing plan of a settling tank to be attached to each drain outlet at the Co-operative ; Dairy Co. —lt was decided to notify the Dairy Co. to instal a tank on the same lines as that submitted by the inspector. It was decided to notify the owner of a section in Shearman Street, to have a hedge, which was encroaching on the footpath, cut back.

Tho Committee decided to invite applications for a licensed booth at the steeplechase meeting. The secretary reported that tho Racing Club had granted permission for the use of their course, provided the tracks were loft in proper order. Accounts amounting to £6 12s (jcl were passed for payment. WAITUNA. A well attended meeting was held in the Waituna School on Monday evening to discuss moans of raising funds to purchase a, piano for the use of the school. The chairman of the school committee (Mr R. Campbell), outlined what had already been done. After some discussion it was decided that the district be canvassed and that a series of euchre '■ parties mid dances be held. The sum of two guineas, being tho net proceeds of dances held, was handed over to the piano fund. The home of select and distinctive jewellery.
