Rioting at Calcutta, resulting in the deaths of three Sikhs and serious injuries to seven others, including a sub-inspector of the police, occurred as the outcome of rumours that the Sikli workmen excavating at King George’s Dock, at Kidderpore, were kidnapping Mohammedan children for human sacrifice. This is the culmination of rumours that have been current for some days, and previously led to tho death of a Sikh workman.
