Harry Wills (the negro heavyweight) won the judges decision over Banle.v Madden, the New York Irishman, in fifteen rounds. The championship aspirations ot Wills, sustained a set-back when the giant negro tailed to knock-out Madden.
Wills won the decision by a decisive margin, Madden lighting one of tho most courageous battles in recent vears. He stood up under a terrific ; attack. Wills employed to great advantage, his reach. and ba tiered .Madden all over the ring. Me . opened nasty cuts about his opponent's eir-, mouth and eyes. Madden was no moru than shaken. Sometimes the crowd of 20,000 were brought, to their lee! in recognition of his gameness in lashing out a counter offensive. Wills hud Madden on the verge <>t knock-out ,at least iwiee in the fifth and twelfth rounds.
