LABOUR PARTY’S RESOLUTION. Bv Telegraph—Pivs-, Association, WELLINGTON, Juno 7. The- following resolution has boon passed bv the National Executive ot lho New Zealand Labour Party; “That iho Executive deeply deplores iho elate ol a Hairs revealed in tho roport of tho Kelvin .Maternity Home Commission. and considers that such is far from creditable cither to the Health Department or the medical profession. The executive _ considers that it is regrclin’nlc and highly n prehensible that, while the Health Department. under tho administration ol several Ministers, was fully awake to the high death rate paused by outbreaks of puerperal septicaemia iu private maternity hospitals, over a long period, it cook no steps towura-, effective control until tho lives of so many mothers were sacrificed. Jl further declares that the timo has nr rived for the establishment of ndoquin. maternity hospitals, run under the best mid most efficient admiiiKtrut.jnn. as part of a national system_of medical service and nnitcrmlv at tent ion, where by the disastrous element of privuo gain will be eliminated.”
