POWER TO HEAL THE SICK.
Stirring Scenes at Denver.
MIRACULOUS CURES REPORTED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright, NEW YORK, June 6, Hundreds of persons, afflicted with physical and mental ailments, be seiged St. Paul’s chapel, where during the last twenty-four hours, the Rev. Robert Bell, an Episcopalian minister from Denver (Colorado) has effected miraculous cures by the laying on ol hands, The crowd, after watching cripples approach for treatment and exultingly throw away crutches, waxed highly emotional. They surged forward to the chanoel. Women became hysterioal, and many fainted, at the evidence oi miraculous powers. The Rev. Bell, however, calmly continued the treat ments, while the Vicar summoned police reserves to prevent a riot. The patients included Catholics, Pro testants, Jews and Atheists, all oi whom exposed the afflicted organs, on which Mr Bell made the sign of tho cross, invoking Divine love to make the body whole,
l’n some cases there was no response to treatment, but the awestruck audience noted that deafness was almost unfailingly cured. Several paralytics likewise regained their powers, The most remarkable cure .was the case of a girl, four years old, whose weak bones were never able to support her. Mr Bell placed his hands upon the limbs, after which the child began a trance-like walk down the aisle to the outer steps, where she smilingly posed for the photographers.
Mr Bell disclaims all personal att.ri butes, saying; “I have no power whatever. It is simply God, whose lovo acts through me.”
