TEMUKA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). GOLF. TEMUKA v. PLEASANT POINT. A friendly match was played on Saturday afternoon at Pleasant Point, which resulted in a substantial win for the Temuka club. During the afternoon the visitors were hospitably entertained by the Pleasant Point team. The following are the scores: —
REGAL OPERA COMPANY. This evening at the Dominion Theatre, The Regal Opera Company will open the Chautauqua season by presenting the opera “Ba Corsicana,” in addition to a long programme of numbers from popular operas. Since its arrival in New Zealand this company' has met with an enthusiastic reception. At Dunedin, His Majesty’s Theatre was crowded, and in response to an urgent request the company will give repeat programmes in that city before going to the North Island. At Invercargill, 1100 people congregated in the town hall and gave the company a most flattering reception. In Nelson a repeat programme had to be given, and similar reports have come from other centres. Under ordinary circumstances such a musical feast is only to he had by travelling at considerable expense to the larger centres. Seats may be booked in the circle and stalls free of charge, and season tickets for the six performances are still available. The concession in the price ■ of these is considerable. Full particulars. will bo found on the front page of this issue.
