WHY ALL THIS WAILING?
To the Editor of the “Timaru Herald.” Sir, —Wliy all this peevish wailing about electric light; did not Mrs Eddy compose her classic “in the eternal twilight” by the aid of a rush lamp? This is a materialistic age, men’s minds forever turning to filthy lucre. The electric light dickers, wanes, and disappears: is not this symbolic of life? Perhaps it will give ns pause in the mad race for wealth —its uncertainty, over before us, should direct our thoughts towards the forgotten virtues of patience and resignation. As one who has felt to the full the flickering:-:' and wailings of life, may I offer a thought for Thursday’s meeting—t.ho true light conies from the East, he meeting should be opened by massed bands with muffled drums, playing a slow time. —I am, etc., MOP E LTGTIT.
